In mid-Jan 2026, I attended a two days intermediate AI course conducted by Info Tech. The purpose was the use of Generative AI tools–ChatGPT, Google Gemini and Microsoft Copilot–for productivity improvement. Appended below is a synopsis of the course:

Learning Outcomes
LO1 – Articulate the issues with existing work systems and software that could be improved.
LO2 – Track latest developments, trends, and best practices in Generative AI technologies and systems.
LO3 – Apply Generative AI tools to resolve identified issues or improve efficacy and efficiency in specific work tasks.
LO4 – Develop a proposal to management for the tools’ formal adoption after testing.
1. Issues Identification and Articulation
- Identifying issues in your organisation’s processes is the first critical step in leveraging Generative AI tools to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Understanding where issues arise from is key to effective problem solving with AI tools.
- Balancing efficiency (speed) and efficacy (quality) is crucial when identifying improvements via AI Tools.
- A well-defined problem statement is essential for guiding AI solutions.
AI Trends & Statistics
- AI market size is expected to reach $1,339 billion by 2030.
- ChatGPT had 1 million users within the first five days of being available.
- One in 10 cars will be self-driving by 2030.
- 64% of businesses expect AI to increase productivity.
AI Business Impact Statistics
- 400 million workers could be displaced because of AI.
- Research estimates AI will create 97 million jobs.
- 77% of HR leaders say they will hire someone with AI skills.
OpenAI’s AGI Blueprint
5 Steps to AGI–OpenAI’s internal five-step plan for achieving Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) provides a structured framework for tracking progress in AI development.
Level 1 Chatbots, AI with conversational language
Level 2 Reasoners, human-level problem solving
Level 3 Agents, systems that can take actions
Level 4 Innovators, AI that can aid in invention
Level 5 Organizations, AI that can do the work of an organisation
Deep Fake Risk
- Financial Risk- Grandparent Scam, Corporate Scam
- Disinformation- Fake News:
On individual → Extortion
On company → Reputational Damage
On country → Political Consequences
❖ What can be done?
Deepfake detector is fighting a losing battle
Education (What, Risk, Defence)
Maintain a level of healthy skepticism- Out of Band Communication, Secret Code Word
2. Generative AI Applications

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the simulation of human intelligence processes by
machines, especially computer systems. It involves the development of algorithms
and statistical models that enable computers to perform tasks that typically require
human intelligence.
Generative AI is a subset of artificial intelligence that focuses on creating new
content, such as text, images, music, or even code, by learning from existing data.
It uses machine learning models, particularly deep learning, to generate outputs that
resemble human-created content.
Prompt=> Trained Generative AI=> Output
Generative AI can be leveraged to completely replace (or complement) traditional
software or systems by replicating their core functions while introducing enhanced
capabilities.
Limitations of AI
- Bias and Discrimination
- Knowledge Cutoff
- Hallucination
ChatGPT (Open AI)

ChatCPT is the world’s most popular Gen AI tool currently. It latest release is v.5.2.
Developer: OpenAI, an AI research organization committed to ensuring that artificial general intelligence (AGI) benefits all of humanity.
Purpose: Designed to assist with a wide range of tasks, from answering questions and writing essays to generating creative content and assisting with coding.
Personalization is a feature in ChatGPT that allows users to personalize their interactions by
providing specific details on how they want the AI to respond. This function enables users to
specify information they would like ChatGPT to consider or keep in mind while generating
responses. It enhances the user experience by making the AI more tailored and relevant to
individual needs or preferences.
Customizable GPTs are AI models that users can tailor to their specific needs and preferences. Available to paid users of ChatGPT, these customizable models allow users to create a version of the GPT tailored for specific tasks, workflows, or communication styles.
Google Gemini

Google Gemini is the second most popular Gen AI tool. It is always with the Google Search engine and can be connected to Google workplace seamlessly. It is currently in v.3.
Developer: Google DeepMind, a subsidiary of Google focused on artificial intelligence research.
Purpose: Committed to creating advanced AI models that are multimodal, meaning they can process and generate various types of data, including text, images, audio, and video.
Microsoft Coplilot

Microsoft Copilot is an AI-powered assistant designed to enhance productivity by integrating seamlessly with Microsoft’s suite of applications. Leveraging advanced generative AI models, Copilot assists users in tasks such as writing, data analysis, and project management by generating suggestions, automating repetitive tasks, and providing intelligent insights.
Advanced Gen AI Functions
- Generating AI Images–Generative AI image creators like Midjourney, Copilot Image Creator, and DALL-E are artificial intelligence models that can create images from text input.
- Prompt Engineering–Prompt Engineering is the process of crafting and refining prompts to guide AI models to produce desired outputs. It involves structuring inputs in a way that maximizes the accuracy, relevance, and creativity of the AI-generated content. 6 key principles of Prompt Engineering:
- Provide clear and specific instructions
- Operate in steps (especially for complex task)
- Iterate and refine (AI chatbots possess “memory”)
- Include relevant example(s)
- Provide the scenario whenever possible
- Ask AI to ask you clarifying questions if necessary
- Building a Game
- Generating a Song
- Text to Speech
- CV Crafting & Interviewing Preparation
- Data Analysis
- AI Automation
- Detection and Humanization
3. Formalising Adoption of Tools
Key Steps in the Adoption Process
- Needs Assessment
- Research and Evaluation
- Pilot Testing
- Risk Management and Compliance
- Integration
- Training
- Continuous Monitoring and Improvement
A business case is a tool for convincing organizational decision makers in approving a specific project:
- Executive Summary
- Context
- Project Decription
- Solutions & Alternatives
- SWOT Analysis
- Implementation Timeline
- Financial Analysis
- Final Recomendation
Key Takeaways
- As an intermediate Gen AI course, the students should have some basic knowledge of AI. This will then be a good course to bring the students to a higher level of AI knowledge and expertise.
- With the rapid advance of AI technology, the only way to keep in pace is to apply the knowledge acquired continuously.
