One Saturday last month, my wife and I did the usual walk around Singapore. We usually walk around the various nature reserves in Singapore. However on the said Saturday, we decided to do a walk around Marina Bay (about 4km in all). It was a slightly sunny morning with little crowd. The main view was that of the Marina Financial Hub, representing Singapore as the regional financial hub.

Items of Interest Enroute
- Start Point–It was important that we had parked our car at the Marina Bay Open carpark. This was because this had saved us much money if we had parked our car in the expensive carparks nearby.

- Peace in the Hub–Among the business and entertainment portions of the circuit, tourists could be seen taking a rest nearby.

- Shop till you Die–The number of retail shops and the richness of the merchantise at the popular The Shoppes at MBS would really allow to you shop till you die/broke.

- Pubs Pubs Everywhere–Along the circuit next to MBS were a row of pubs/restaurant where you could have pub lunches/dinners late into the night.

- Beware of Cyclists–The circuit is a shared one among walkers, runners and cyclists. Among the three, of course we, the walkers, had to beware of the cyclists who were going at pretty great speed.

- The Gigantic Art and Science Museum–This is one item you cannot miss in the circuit. On the outside, it looks big, blossoming and modern. On the inside, you probably have to pay much to find out (regardless of the event held).

- Behold the Helix Bridge–This is another obvious number on the said circuit. It is iconic and link the new MBS to the old Marina Square (together with the road next to it).

- M.B.S.–This has become the most iconic picture of modern Singapore. Most foreigners tend to associate this picture with the successful polity of Singapore.

- One Fullerton–As you start to turn back into the old Shenton Way, a building appears. It used to be the old Singapore General Post Office. Today, it is one of the top hotel in Singapore, called One Fullerton.

- The Merlion–The is easily the most popular spot in the whole of Singapore. All tourists must take a picture there before they could considered visited Singapore. It is the Singapore tourism icon and is situated at the mouth of the original Singapore River.

- Train as an Alternative–If you preferred to get into or out of the circuit by train, you could take one at MB Link Mall.

- The End Item–The last item before the carpark is the design museum, not too sure what is inside though?….

Key Takeaways
- As an alternative to walking in nature reserves, walking the MB circuit is a good urban experience.
- Walking around the MB also allows one to realise important economic, financial and regional role that Singapore plays in the South-east Asia Region.
