My family and I went back to Springhills Farm when we were based in Perth in 2015. It was a nostalgic and enjoyable visit and I wrote this poem after the trip.

Going back to Springhills Farm
Has been desired, nostalgic and fun.
A decade ago, my family was young and easy
And the hosts were mature and busy.
Now we are established and occupied
And they are old and more dignified.

Getting back to Springhills Farm
Was neither easy nor short in time.
It’s hours two and a half from urban Perth
And invisible in the modern GPS berth.
But after a wonderful country lunch at Williams
We finally found the farm in nature brilliance.
Arriving back at Springhills Farm
Was both relieving and calm;
Robyn, the hostess, received us with open arms.
Whilst the old dog had gone, the new dog has come
But the facade remains unharmed;
Greg, the host, finally met us before lunch.

Coming back from Springhills Farm
Was unwilling but had to be done.
This will be our second and last visit there
For ten years later the hosts may no longer be there.
Nonetheless the memory of Springhills Farm has long being a part of our family’s fun.
