Early this month, my wife and I mounted Bukit Timah Hill (BTH) for the second time. While we went by the front from the Bukit Timah Road for the first time, we went up by the back via the Dairy Farm route this time. Either way, BTH remains the Jewel of Singapore’s nature reserve, both by height and the span of nature reserved.

The Entry via Dairy Farm
There is sufficient carpark at Dairy Farm, and the crowd is also smaller. There is also a clean toilet, and it connect nicely to the Wallace Trial, which is where the entry point is found.

Wallace Trial
About 100m from the carpark up Wallace Trail, on a sharp right turn, there is a steep uphill, that is the famous start point to BTH via Dairy Farm.

200m uphill later, there is a shed and a sharp left turn and you are on the way up to BTH.

On the Way Up
The way up to BTH is of course generally up. But along the way, there are many up and down of about 2km. The up and down can also be very steep.

Besides trails, the only items seen on the way up is some World War 2 remains like old water tanks:

At the Summit
At the summit, there is a rest shed and many monkeys.

On the Way Down
On the way down, there is rapid descent but with some nice views:

Key Takeaways
- For nature’s lover, a visit to BTH is a must. There are at least 3 ways to get to the summit. My recommendation is to try all three, as they are all different and enjoyable.
- As land scarce Singapore becoming more urbanized, it is becoming more difficult to maintain these nature reserves. The golf courses are being removed, maybe the next one could be the nature reserves. So, pls enjoy them while you could.
